The Opium Wars

The ''Opium Wars'' was basically a drug war. When opium first came to China it was used as a medicine. But then in the 1700's the British introduced China to mixing opium with tobacco so it could be smoked. And at this time China was famous for green tea. So basically ''The Opium Wars'' was just China trading their gold and their silver for opium which they later found out was a horrible deal. They were called ''The Opium Wars'' because the main focus of the war was for the British to get the chinese to give up all their gold and silver for opium. The Chinese won the wars.

The Scientific Revolution: The Scientific Method

The Scientific Method is basically the way we were taught to solve a problem/experiment. The basic steps basically consist of four steps which are:

1.Discover a problem
2.Invent a hypothesis
3.Test your hypothesis untill you find one thats true
4.Draw your conclusions

EXAMPLE:

My problem: I can't get to class on time.

My hypothesis: If I dont stop to talk to my friends in the hall i can make it to class on time

My expirement: I chose one day to test my hypothesis. So on this day as soon as the bell rung to let us out of class i went straight upstairs to Mr. Molony's class without stopping in the halls to conversate with my friends and i made it to class on time.

My conclusion: I tested my hypothesis and it worked so everyday now i'm not going to stop in the halls between classes to converse with my friends.
